JAIPUR: The polling officials, who had been being educated for the impending Lok Sabha elections on the Officers' Training School (OTS), Poddar institute and Khaitan school complained about deficient quality meals served on the training facilities on Monday. They protested and threatened to boycott the educational session. The district election department taking cognizance of the incident has issued show-cause realize to the contractor (Vrindavan catering) and those responsible for checking the meals pieces. Those found responsible for the negligence can be suspended, mentioned district collector Jagroop Singh Yadav.
He further mentioned even the officers, who had been responsible for shouting slogans and agitating and later absented themselves from training, can be recognized and issued show-cause realize and stern disciplinary action can be taken towards them for inflicting impediment in election paintings. He also termed it "unbecoming behaviour" of the government employees.
Yadav advised TOI: "Contractors and the those reponsible for checking the food has been issued notice and those found responsible for the negligence would be suspended. We will deduct the contractor’s payment for the day for supplying sub-standard food. We have given strict directions to the contractor to ensure supplying of good quality food. If this is repeated, harshest punishment would be given to them. I was told that the 'cholas' which were soaked overnight and cooked in the morning may have started smelling."
"We have taken appropriate action against the contractor," he added. He also mentioned the “cancellation of the contract of the provider of meals was no longer imaginable as there was a tendering process concerned in the collection of the contractor, which couldn’t be performed now”. The district provide officer is responsible for floating tenders.
The polling officials complained about deficient quality meals giving out a nasty scent, no association for tea and water. They also demanded strict action towards the provider and the contractor responsible for preparing the meals.
"We have been served poor quality food infested with worms. The water is also contaminated as they give it directly from the tank. There is no arrangement for tea. There was nobody to listen to our grievances. This was the first day of training. We also demand that the contractor should be removed and be replaced," mentioned Ganesh Ahuja, mentioned every other officer.
"There was no arrangement for water. The food was smelling very bad. Now, there is no food avaialble for us. They are giving us water directly from the water tank," mentioned Rakesh Singh, probably the most poll officials who was being educated.
The district election department officers appealed to them to proceed the educational process and confident them of fine quality meals in long term apart from appropriate action towards the provider.
Dhara Singh Meena, ADM South, who was present on the OTS, mentioned: "There will no complaints henceforth and the quality of the food will be improved. The payment of the contractors would be deducted for the day."
Later, the officers had been served tea and snacks.
