RE office shifting row: BJD brings poll code violation against BJP

BHUBANESWAR: BJD on Sunday sought intervention of chief electoral officer (CEO), Odisha, Surendra Kumar within the subject of shifting Bhubaneswar place of business of the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE) to Bengaluru by March 31.
A delegation of the ruling celebration met the CEO here and submitted him a memorandum alleging that the BJP-led Centre has taken this decision by violating fashion code of habits for normal elections 2019. This decision will assist the BJP to garner votes in Karnataka, they added.

Badri Narayan Patra, senior BJD leader, said the fashion code of habits for normal elections and assembly elections came into force on March 10. The ballot code says the Centre or the state can not take coverage decisions, however the Railways issued a notification to shift the CORE’s Bhubaneswar place of business to Bengaluru on March 13. It is a clear case of violation of fashion code of habits, he added.

“This is a conspiracy hatched by the BJP via the federal government agencies to woo voters of Karnataka and show their favouritism to the south state ahead of the elections. But this decision will stall the electrification strategy of railways within the state. It isn't the one case. A couple of days ahead of the fashion code of habits comes into force, the Centre had bifurcated Waltair division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to create South Coast Railway to appease the Andhra Pradesh voters,” said the memorandum of the BJD.

The celebration leaders demanded that the decision must be rolled back. “The blatant and flagrant violation of ballot code by the BJP via its central agencies does now not augur well for the habits of loose and honest elections. We hope the CEO will take in the issue with Election Commission of India (ECI),” said celebration’s state secretary Bijaya Nayak.

BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said his celebration has now not violated fashion code of habits. “It isn't a coverage decision, however a routine paintings of the Indian Railways. BJD must now not see politics in the entirety,” he added.

Railway Board has already clarified that the re-structuring of project offices is a standard affair for the CORE.
