Residents of Paldi Soc shut doors on BJP

Tired of being omitted by means of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, citizens of Seven Hills Apartment in Paldi have warned leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party against visiting their building, looking for votes. The citizens of the two-storeyed building, which is positioned close to Ambedkar Bridge, have had a long-standing conflict with the ones working shops at the flooring flooring of the similar building. According to citizens, the shopkeepers have illegally extended the malls, thereby occupying the gap citizens want to use for parking. When repeated proceedings to get the illegal development demolished allegedly went unheard, citizens put in a banner at the building, accusing AMC property department officers of corruption.

In the banner, citizens have claimed that AMC officers requested for money to demolish the illegal development.

Jigar Thakkar, chairman of Seven Hills, stated, "We first wrote to the AMC eight years ago. We have written to them several time since to get the illegal construction removed. But, no one from AMC paid heed to us. In fact, estate department officials asked for Rs 2 lakh to act upon the complaint. The illegal construction has left us with little space for parking. The shopkeepers have extended their shops."

There are eight flats and 9 shops in the building. AMC Deputy Estate Officer and TDO (West Zone) Rajendra Jadav stated, "We received complaint from the residents and have acted upon it. A notice was sent recently to the shopkeepers. We will also undertake demolition in the coming weeks." Jadav requested citizens to immediatey tell the anti-corruption government if any employee from his deparment asks for bribe.

The shopkeepers confirmed they have won the attention.
