GujCET 2019: More than one lakh to appear for exam today

AHMEDABAD: In the merciless heat, some 1.34 lakh scholars will take the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET) on Friday. GujCET used to be pushed to the remaining week this time around, after being postponed 3 times. The dates were changed 3 times as a result of earlier they clashed with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam and then with the Lok Sabha polls.


According to forecast via India meteorological department, the utmost temperature could be very prone to touch 43°C in Ahmedabad on Friday. "I am concerned about the arrangement for water at the examination centre as the heat is terrible. My parents are also worried that I will have to spend some six hours at the exam centre in the scorching heat," stated Rakesh Patel, a Naranpura resident who would take GujCET.


In wake of the orange alert issued via civic authorities, district education officer, has also issued an advisory to stay the stock of glucose powder, lime water, oral rehydration answer (ORS), first aid package and chilly water, replete. The exam shall be conducted between 10am and 4pm with 3 papers - physics and chemistry from 10am to noon, biology from 1pm to 2pm and mathematics from 3pm to 4pm - and throughout this time, scholars shall be barred from waiting at the roads, because of excessive temperatures.


Each paper shall be of 40 marks and there shall be adverse marking with zero.25 marks deducted for each unsuitable answ-er. At the same time, an unattempted query won't draw in adverse marking. Taking GujCET exam is compulsory for admissions to engineering and pharmacy faculties across Gujarat. The exam shall be conducted across some 34 centres. Each elegance will have most of 20 scholars and shall be under CCTV surveillance.
