Shoe-chucker surgeon from Kanpur faced raids

KANPUR: The man who hurled the shoe at BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao while he was addressing a media briefing at party headquarters in the national capital on Thursday, recognized as Dr Shakti Bhargava, a surgeon from Kanpur, is dealing with Income Tax probe in connection with undisclosed income, unaccounted money and properties and is a vocal critical of Modi government over its anti-corruption actions.

Though he claims to a be a whistle-blower on his Facebook account, Bhargava was disowned via his folks two years in the past and Income Tax officers had recovered Rs 28 lakh in money and jewellery price Rs 50 lakh besides Rs 1.42 lakh in demonetised forex notes from his premises and of his friends throughout searches over 3 days in Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi in 2018.


He was unable to disclose supply of income of over Rs 10 crore used to buy 3 properties and probe towards him remains to be on.

The shoe, thrown via Bhargava, neglected Rao via a whisker and hit the microphone as a substitute. Bhargava was detained, but freed later as BJP did not record a criticism.

Daya Bhargava, 75, the mummy of 48-year-old doctor-cum-real estate developer refused to acknowledge him as her son. "Shakti is no longer my son as I disowned him two years ago," she informed TOI.


Though the visiting card recovered from Shakti's possession states that he's a practising doctor at Bhargava Hospital in Kanpur, Daya stated: "Shakti has nothing to do with the hospital which we own. You are talking about practise, I haven't even seen him since last one year," stated Daya, who misplaced her husband last year. Sources stated that his wife Dr Shikha is also a certified physician. "Shakti faced income tax raids over purchase of three British India Corporation bungalows. The police had also investigated the matter as violation of benami property rules," resources printed.


On his Facebook web page, Shakti claims to be a whistleblower. Through his posts, he has repeatedly launched assaults on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government's stand on corruption.


Earlier, Shakti had hogged limelight in 2014 when he went missing from a resort in Paharganj house of Delhi, where he had long past to record a writ petition in the Supreme Court over a work of land in Kanpur valued over Rs 100 crore. He was later located in Itarsi after his wife Shikha lodged a police criticism at Nabi Karim police station in Paharganj.
