Three held for threatening people against voting in Junagadh locality

RAJKOT: Three individuals were arrested for allegedly threatening electorate, asking them not to vote in Ambedkarnagar on Bilkha Road in Junagadh on Tuesday. Two of them were also present in possession of an Indian-made overseas liquor (IMFL) bottle, following which they were booked below the Prohibition Act.

According to police, the accused, known as Sanjay Solanki, Kishor Khant and Ashok, were allegedly threatening electorate in Ambedkarnagar, brandishing bats and iron pipes, a video of which used to be shot via one of the crucial locals within the space who made it viral on social media.


“We booked the accused trio on the complaint of Keshu Vagh. After their video went viral, we launched a manhunt for them. Meanwhile, Solanki and his buddy Ravi Vyas were intercepted at Sardar Circle. We discovered an IMFL bottle of their possession and booked them below the Prohibition Act,” stated M A Vala, inspector with Junagadh A-Division police station.


“We also arrested Khant from Ambedkarnagar. He used to be present in an under the influence of alcohol state, following which, he, too, used to be booked below the Prohibition Act,” added Vala.


Police also recovered Rs three.31 lakh in cash from Vyas and Rs 62,200 from Solanki.


Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for Ashok who is still at huge.
