Residents of an rental building in Vasna were alarmed to discover a baby snake cooling off of their building's elevator after it had wandered inside of, in search of refuge from the oppressive warmth assaulting town on Sunday.

NGO head Vijay Dabhi instructed Mirror , "The little snake had got into the elevator looking to cool off because it is so hot outside. Thankfully, instead of hitting it as people usually do in panic, the residents called us for help." The Indian Sand Boa, also known asEryx johnii , is endemic to India, Pakistan and Iran. It is a secure species underneath Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Jiten Shah, who lives in the rental, said, "The poor snake had been stuck there since last night. We found it in the morning. It looked pretty harmless so we waited for the people from the NGO to come and take it away. This was the first time a snake came into the society. I'm glad we could help rescue it."
