The village of Medini in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district is understood for its aromatic rice, ‘Medini akki’, used in payasam and different chocolates. But it’s turning into a sour and lonely harvest for the youths of this village, cosseted by means of the Western Ghats, as prospective brides turn them down for dwelling within the boondocks.
