LUDHIANA: A site visitors cop’s promptness and alertness saved the life of a lady who jumped into a canal close to Doraha on Sunday.
Doraha site visitors in-charge assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurdeep Singh said he used to be managing vehicular movement at Doraha bridge when he noticed a lady bounce into the canal.
“I rushed to the divers, who had been close to the spot, and sought their help. They instantly dived in and rescued the lady, 40. When they introduced her out, I calmed her down and requested her identify. She identified herself as Amarjeet Kaur, spouse of Amreek Singh of Kishengarh, close to Bija, Doraha,” the ASI added.
On what made her take the step, the lady said, “I used to be below tension after my husband went out of the country for paintings.” The efforts have earned the cop appreciation from his seniors. Payal deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rachpal Singh Dhindsa said, “We will recommend his identify for appreciation certificate.”
