LUDHIANA: A 38-year-old girl was once killed and 18 others injured after their mini bus driver fell asleep and rear-ended a truck on G T Road in Khanna round 12.15am on Wednesday.
The deceased has been recognized as Meena and the injured as Munish (16), Nirmala (42), Kavita (38), Santosh (50), Shubham (11), Tejan (7), Usha (50), Drishti (20), Shushan (11), Murab (50), Darshana (48), Rajni (55), Shelly (17), Rekha (35), Sonia (30), Mausmi (50), Krishan — all residents of Sultanpur, Delhi — and mini bus driver Albert (40).
The circle of relatives had hired the mini bus (DL1VC-1669) from Delhi to Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra and left the Capital on Tuesday evening.
Police stated near a mall on GT Road, the mini bus driver fell asleep and ran the vehicle right into a truck (PB13AW-6089).
The collision was once so strong that the law enforcement officials deputed at a nearby police test put up rushed to the spot.
Sadar Khanna police station head constable Jagdev Singh stated, “One of the devotees died at the spot. An ambulance was once known as and the injured were taken to a nearby Khanna medical institution. Some of them have been shifted to a personal medical institution in Ludhiana. The situation of most of them is said to be strong.”
Police have booked the mini bus driver underneath sections 279 (rash driving or driving on a public manner), 337 (causing hurt by means of act endangering existence or private protection of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by means of act endangering existence or private protection of others), 427 (mischief causing harm to the amount of 50 rupees), 304 A (causing loss of life because of negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.
