AHMEDABAD: The civic frame has determined to create automobile parking spaces inside of public gardens. The space requirement of one,200 to 1,700 sq. metres for such parking spaces shall be made available in municipal gardens with regards to major roads.
The municipal corporation believes this will likely ease traffic congestion through providing a space for individuals who park their automobiles on the roadside.
The experiment will begin with 32 parks and gardens of the town. Director, parks and gardens, AMC, Jignesh Patel, said that during major gardens, there are spaces that lie most commonly unused.
“In some places we discovered such spaces getting used as urinals and sell off ground for hawkers. In other places we discovered people had begun to throw garbage and render where useless. We will revive such spaces,” said Patel.
He indicated that during gardens reminiscent of Law Garden and Parimal Garden, as much as 2,000 sq. metres of space shall be available for parking.
