Coimbatore: The officials of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) will ship show reason understand to Amit Jain, the New Delhi-based owner of the illegal gutka manufacturing unit at Kannampalayam village close to Sulur that used to be raided on Saturday.
Preliminary investigation printed that Amit Jain acquired licence from FSSAI for manufacturing non-tobacco products like pan masala and sweet betel nut. The licence is legitimate till July 2018. FSSAI officials, who had inspected the unit in January, had failed to determine the illegal manufacturing of gutka there. Police suspect the position of some FSSAI officials within the incident.
