In May 2012, 1,037 vultures had been recorded. These integrated 938 Gyps vultures (577 white-rumped vultures & 361 long-billed vultures), 8 red-headed vultures and 97 Egyptian vultures.
A senior officer involved within the census stated that the count remaining week published that there are now only a 100-odd vultures within the Girnar region. In Surendranagar, they could count just 15 to 20 vultures. This quantity was greater than 50 in 2016.
