AHMEDABAD: BJP's 15 corporators, including former mayur Amit shah, on Friday filed their nomination for the 12-member status committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. The BJP, with the intention to play safe, had requested 3 members to report their nomination as dummy candidates.
The election for the mayor and deputy mayor can be held on June 14.
This year, the AMC has reserved its mayor's submit for female (basic) candidate whilst the deputy mayor could be a male candidate more than likely from a reserved category.
Sources in the BJP stated if any of the type of the 12-member have been rejected because of any technical factor, the birthday celebration would still have 12 members in the fray. The election for the same can be held on June 14.
Officials stated that a few of the distinguished candidates who filed their nomination as member incorporated Amit Shah, Amul Bhatt and Jatin Patel.
However, there have been hypothesis over the appointment of the chairman with Amit Shah and Amul Bhatt each submitting their nominations.
Bhatt is claimed to be on the subject of chief minister Vijay Rupani whilst Shah is claimed to be from the camp of the nationwide president Amit Shah.
However, resources stated that the clear image will come up on June 12 when 3 councillors withdraw their nominations.
BJP resources stated that with the intention to please the Patels, if BJP is going in for the appointment of a Brahmin candidate as mayor of the town, then Shah would to find his going easy for the submit of chairman, but if the birthday celebration makes a decision to have a Patel candidate because the mayor, it's unlikely that Amit Shah could be made the status committee chairman.
However, the BJP is understood to pull out a surprise at the closing moment.
