BHUBANESWAR: In order to reduce the burden on Puri station, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) is planning to start out some Puri-originating trains from Malatipatpur station positioned at the outskirts of Puri the town.
Malatipatpur, only 7 km away from Puri station, is positioned beside the National Highway (NH).
ECoR resources said an idea paper has been prepared to start out some trains from this station as an alternative of Puri station. The Railways is proposing an additional coach maintenance facility at Malatipatpur prior to beginning the services.
Malatipatpur has a large station building established prior to Nabakalebara competition to take care of the passenger services. It has traces for holding the idle coaches till departure of the trains. New works are under pipeline, said a senior railway officer, including, “Some trains can get started from right here and finish their adventure at this station. Some specific and intercity trains will also be started from right here.”
The gorgeous inter-state bus terminal is positioned at the reverse facet of the station. There is a wide foot over bridge connecting the station and terminal. It will assist the passengers to board the educate from this position.
