LUDHIANA: If your puppy bites someone, chances are you'll face an FIR. In one such incident reported at Chawani Mohalla in outdated town, police have registered a case in opposition to a person whose puppy dog bit a 13-year-old boy within the neighbourhood.
The FIR was once lodged under Section 289 (negligent behavior with respect to animal) of the IPC in opposition to puppy owner Twinkle Manchanda, 40, of Chawani Mohalla.
In his grievance to the police, Arun Thapar, 35, of the similar locality mentioned his neighbour Twinkle owns a Labrador. “On May 26 when my son was once standing outdoor our house round 1.30pm, Twinkle was once walking his dog and unexpectedly lost grip at the leash. The dog ran against my son and bit him on his right thigh,” he added.
He accused Twinkle of negligence.
Investigating officer from division 4 police station assistant sub-inspector Shamsher Singh mentioned the circle of relatives lodged a grievance on Friday.
About a 12 months ago, too, the dog had bitten the more youthful daughter of the complainant and that point both the families had resolved the topic. The accused had promised to be cautious that point, the ASI added.
Teeth of the law
Section 289 of the IPC (negligent behavior with respect to animal) says, “Whoever knowingly or negligently omits to take such order with any animal in his ownership as is enough to guard in opposition to any probable danger to human lifestyles, or any probable danger of grievous harm from such animal, will likely be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which would possibly extend to six months, or with high-quality which would possibly extend to at least one thousand rupees, or with both.”
