PUNE: The Yerawada police on Monday night time arrested a 63-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old deaf and mute girl at his residence in Vadgaonsheri on Sunday afternoon.
“The girl went out to fetch water when the elderly man, on spotting her on my own, known as her to his place and sexually assaulted her,” sub-inspector Manisha Tule from the Yerawada police stated.
The officer stated the terrified girl come what may fled from the suspect’s area and narrated the ordeal to her mother in signal language.
“The mother then registered an FIR against the suspect below the related sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection to Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.”
“We visited the suspect’s area, but did not to find him. We then launched a hunt for tracing the man and nabbed him on Monday. During wondering, he denied of sexually assaulting the girl,” she stated.
A special court docket on Tuesday remanded the suspect in magisterial custody. He used to be later sent to the Yerawada central jail.
