Rashtriya Lok Dal seeks revival with SP-BSP backing

NOIDA: The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which used to be routed within the final Lok Sabha election with the birthday party failing to open its account even in its stronghold of western UP, is taking a look to the BSP-SP-RLD mix as a life-support.

The birthday party, which has been left with handiest 0.86 % vote percentage in Uttar Pradesh and only one meeting seat (of Sahender Singh Ramala from Chhaprauli in Baghpat district), has mobilised its cadres in support of BSP-SP alliance candidate Satveer Nagar for the Gautam Buddh Nagar seat. Claiming a shared ideology with BSP-SP, the birthday party’s slogan is “karo ya maro” (do or die), a line which insiders say describes its personal prospects.

“We have mobilised all birthday party cadres — from mahanagar adhyaksh (metro president), district in-charge, state in-charge to ground-level workers — in support of BSP-SP alliance candidate in Guatam Buddh Nagar. There is super hope, interest and willpower amongst birthday party cardres who are seeing this as even though their national-level leader is preventing election right here,” said Janardhan Bhati, RLD district president, GB Nagar.

“It is a battle for existence as our senior birthday party leaders have called for a do or die slogan. Our birthday party nationwide vp Jayant Chaudhary (son of founder Ajit Singh) has said the birthday party is in the end of alliance mode and nothing must be completed to avert that,” he added.

The reason why being that RLD is taking a look at 2022 state meeting elections with this alliance. Expecting 40-50 seats in 2019 Lok Sabha elections for BSP-SP alliance in UP, RLD targets to cash-in on the victory. “If we take a seat in Parliament, handiest then the birthday party thrives and because we've a shared ideology with BSP-SP socialism, pro-dalit and RLD’s pro-farmer base, there’s no higher spouse than this,” said Bhati.

Vijender Yadav, RLD’s Noida in-charge, instructed IdealNews that birthday party cardres from Jewar, Dankaur, Dadri and Greater Noida are all lending their support to Nagar.
