Coimbatore: While the four homicide circumstances reported within the final 10 days within the district had no links to organised crime, the truth that the accused and deceased had no prison background is troubling, police resources stated. All the incidents had one thing in not unusual - either the perpetrators or the sufferers had been under the influence of alcohol.

On October 18, R Sureshkumar from Annai Indira Nagar at Ondipudur used to be murdered by way of a four-member gang close to Corporation School flooring at SMS Layout in Ondipudur. On the night of October 18, M Arumugam of Sarojini Street at Mahalingapuram in Pollachi used to be murdered by way of his good friend M Guru of Indiran Nagar at Ettayapuram in Thoothukudi district. "Liquor played a vital role in all the four murders. While we are doing our best to control organised crime, we are helpless to check such incidents," a senior police officer stated.
