LUCKNOW: The crack of dawn of September five was historical for Lucknow, with public thronging on the Transportnagar Metro station from the wee-hours to get the first glimpse of Metro rail chugging on the precedence hall. Though trials had begun in December 2016, Metro ride on Tuesday was special as it marked the start, to be adopted by way of public launch from Wednesday.

The eight.5km precedence hall from Transportnagar to Charbagh opened at 6.30am. Though the timing for one-side trip is 17 minutes, it took less time on Tuesday as it didn't stop on the stations.


After a temporary pause at Charbagh, the train returned to the fruits point. Along the way, the gang took selfies, made movies on phone and circulated their footage of the Metro adventure on social media. Some chanted Vande Mataram and patriotic slogans. As the train stopped, everyone found the opportunity to click on pictures with the brand new mode of transport.
