ASHA workers stopped from burning effigies of BJP leaders

Vadodara: High drama was once witnessed in Kothi house on Thursday morning where Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) employees had planned to burn the effigy of former mayor and BJP state mahila morcha president Jyoti Pandya out of doors collector office.

Before the agitating employees could burn the effigy, two miscreants took away the effigy and fled on a bike. The ASHA employees ran at the back of them, but the duo disappeared. Later, the employees went to Raopura police station, which is a couple of hundred metres clear of the collector office, alleging that policemen had taken away the effigy.

The protesting employees raised slogans against Pandya, who had allegedly made an uncongenial comment against the ASHA employees few days back. When the cops asked them to go away the police station assuring them they'd no longer taken the effigy, the protestors took two sticks from the cops and made every other effigy out of it and burnt it. The ASHA employees suspected that the police had taken the effigy as on Wednesday, the cops had snatched a bamboo bier from them. The ASHA employees had taken out a funeral with a dummy frame of 'humanity and dignity' of ladies in the state.

The cops seized the bier when the procession came out of doors the compound of collector office.
