LUCKNOW: Lucknow University academics boycotted classes on Teachers' Day to call for implementation of 7th pay commission suggestions. Supporting the nationwide academics' professional test against the delay in salary revision, Lucknow University academics protested outside the executive block at the campus for more than 3 hours.
Teachers from all 42 departments of LU joined the protest. "The 7th pay commission has been implemented, but still our salaries have not been revised," mentioned general secretary of Lucknow University Teachers' Association Durgesh Srivastava.
Students who got here for classes were left disappointed. "We had no prior information that classes will remain suspended," mentioned Anvita Dubey, a student.
The educating staff also boycotted Teachers' Day birthday party. "We had made arrangements to celebrate this special day with our professors, but we were left disappointed," mentioned Achintya Verma, a student.
