NEW DELHI: The executive is looking to provide non-Aadhaar based verification for cell phones just for certain classes, reminiscent of NRIs and overseas tourists. It may be seeking to ease the verification process for the ones with Aadhaar.


Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan mentioned the federal government had already simplified the method by offering for verification via a one-time password (OTP), app and a voice-recognition machine. Using OTP, subscribers will be capable of authenticate telephone numbers which have been no longer mentioned during Aadhaar registration. So, multiple telephones will also be verified the use of the cell number registered with Aadhaar.


She additionally mentioned doorstep verification facility can be to be had for senior electorate and the disabled, but even so verification across circles. The steps have been initiated after subscribers complained of harassment by telecom companies who've opened just a few centres for verification. Sundararajan mentioned the method for Aadhaar-based verification was mandated by the Supreme Court.
