Paris plans to ban gas-powered cars in city by 2030

PARIS: The noise of vehicle engines enveloping the streets of the French capital may someday transform a reminiscence for Paris pedestrians.

In its newest initiative to scale back pollution, Paris City Hall is planning to ban gas-powered vehicles through 2030. The controversial move follows Mayor Anne Hidalgo's plan to ban all diesel vehicles from town through 2024, when Paris will host the Summer Olympics.

Speaking on France Info radio, the Paris deputy mayor accountable for transport, Christophe Nadjovski, stated "we have planned the end of thermic vehicle use, and therefore of fossil energies, by 2030."

Hidalgo has angered many Parisians together with her efforts to make Paris a greener town, particularly through adding cycling paths that have slowed automobile visitors alongside the Seine River.
