Stalin woos student community, seeks help to regain power

COIMBATORE: 'Catch them younger' seems to the chant of DMK, and the celebration working president, MK Stalin, has been traveling around the State to woo the scholar group into the celebration fold.

On Sunday, he made a passionate plea to the group to paintings for overthrowing the present regime. "Nobody can deny that it was the student community that brought DMK to power in 1967. I wish you are driven by the same passion to bring the party to power again," he said at a function organised here on Sunday to distribute prizes to winners of quite a lot of competitions held to mark past due chief minister CN Annadurai's 109th birth anniversary.

Seated in entrance of him at a wedding corridor in Mettupalayam were college students. Stalin, off past due, has been wooing the youth, in particular college and college students, who as soon as formed a robust base for the Dravidian main.

As Stalin himself said, it was the students of the 60s, who made DMK taste success all over the celebration's nascent days in problems like the anti-Hindi agitation.

Now, Stalin has been making an attempt to do what his father Karunanidhi did by means of tapping the youth power. The Anna birth anniversary celebrations remains one of the vital key events that DMK has been using to reach out to the scholar group. The celebration has been engaging in competitions for college students from 2007 and according to Stalin, has given away prizes to 14,625 students thus far.

Stalin seeks to play the fitting notes all over the prize distribution ceremonies to woo the students. "The State government has been ignoring the plight of students as evident from the Neet issue. Had the AIADMK government, with 50 MPs, exerted pressure, they could have Neet exemption for Tamil Nadu. But, they have mortgaged student welfare for their selfish designs," he alleged.

"Nobody could forget the Marina protest for jallikattu. Student community has never shirked its duty to fight for the cause of the region, language and race. Even now, they should come forward to protect Tamil Nadu," he said.

After the speech, Stalin stepped down from the dais and sat a number of the students. "No matter how many meetings I attend, events like this is where I spend time with youth and it remains memorable," he said.

Over the years, Stalin has been excited by cultivating a tender crop of electorate. He shed the white dhoti-shirt apparel and wore pants all over his Namakku Naame stroll around the State. He has also been energetic on social media platforms including Twitter.
