Free coaching to minority IAS aspirants soon

MUMBAI: Union minister for minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi mentioned on Sunday that the Centre has tied up with instructional establishments to supply free training to minority scholars taking civil products and services tests.

Speaking at a seminar on 'Role of Education and Skill Development for the Progress of Minorities', held via Siddiqui's Educational and Welfare Trust (SEWT) right here, Naqvi mentioned there's rising urge amongst young generation of Muslims to be informed and excel. He called upon the minority communities to shed their inferiority advanced, take the opportunities available, and empower themselves educationally.

Explaining the training facilities being supplied via the ministry of minority affairs via its "arrangements" with many main training institutes within the nation, Naqvi mentioned that a report number of 52 Muslim applicants cracked the civil products and services tests in 2016.


"It shows that the community's youths have benefited from coaching and guidance facilities the ministry has provided. This number will increase as we will give further push to such coaching facilities for candidates of minority communities," he mentioned.


Delhi-based Zakat Foundation, which gives training to civil products and services aspirants, mentioned the federal government will have to access professional training institutes via NGOs fairly than give grants to minority-managed training centres.


Foundation chief Zafar Mahmood mentioned, "The results will be more encouraging if professional coaching centres are roped in to guide minority students. This can be done with the help of some NGOs." Naqvi mentioned the federal government is helping madrassas via 3Ts — teachers, tiffin and bathrooms. "We want madrassas to benefit from the scheme, which helps them to hire teachers for modern subjects, provide mid-day meals, and build toilets," he mentioned.


"It's the government's constitutional duty to provide its citizens, including minorities, opportunities to grow," he mentioned.
