NEW DELHI: Markets edged higher on Monday to end for an eighth consecutive gaining streak after recovering from the early losses. The 30-share benchmark Sensex rose 45.20 issues whilst the 50-share Nifty ended 9.85 issues higher. Although, sentiment used to be widely cautious forward of financial information due later this week.
Meanwhile, benchmark 10-year bond yields were up 5 bps issues at 7.05 per cent amid some sadness after Standard & Poor's stuck with its "BBB-minus" sovereign rating for India, declining to observe Moody's recent decision to improve the rustic's rating.
The broader NSE index used to be up 0.09 per cent at 10,399.55, whilst the BSE index used to be 0.13 per cent higher at 33,724.44.
NTPC, Axis Bank, ONGC, SBI and Kotak Mahindra Bank were a number of the major performers on BSE with their stocks rising as much as 3 per cent.
Oil refiners fell as crude prices touched a two-year high earlier in the day, with Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd down more than 1 per cent each.
Infosys misplaced more than 1 per cent after gaining in the remaining four periods as buyers booked earnings.
