Police strive to crack murder of 3-year-old girl, soothsayer

Coimbatore: The town police have now not been in a position to crack four sensational murder instances reported in the previous couple of years allegedly due to lack of manpower. The oldest is a triple murder case reported in 2003 in Peelamedu police prohibit.

In March 2003, V Ranjani, a three-year-old girl, was once found strangled to demise and her mom V Geethamani, 30, and her grandmother Amirtham, 55, have been found with their throats slashed at their residence on Sowripalayam Road at Peelamedu. As an eight-sovereign gold chain was missing from the crime scene, we suspected it was a murder for gain case," a police officer stated.

"There was no police inspector at the Peelamedu station for the last one year. Many chain snatching, motorcycle theft and burglary cases were reported from the Peelamedu area. Now, a woman sub-inspector and more than 10 police personnel are working in the station and they will soon arrest the culprits. We will also form a team to solve the old murder case," deputy commissioner of police (crime) P Perumal stated.


On December 12, 2015, C Mani of Dhanabal Layout at Vardharajapuram close to Singanallur, a soothsayer, was once found dead in a pool of blood at his residence. More than 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments have been missing from the house. Though Singanallur (crime) police interrogated more than 50 people, they might now not crack the case.


In February 2016, decomposed bodies of 60-year-old R Pappathi and her daughter R Geetha, 35, have been found inside of a house on Avinashi Road. The woman's son R Saravanakumar was once found missing. Skulls of the dead women have been utterly broken. Forensic experts amassed pieces of bones from the crime scene.
