Two arrested for harassing north-eastern girls during a football match in Chennai

NEW DELHI. The Chennai police on Sunday arrested two males once they had been caught on a video harassing women from the northeast during a soccer match final week.

The two accused had been identified as Anbuchezhiyan and Karthick. While Anbuchezhiyan is a painter through occupation, Karthick is an engineer scholar. Both had been despatched to judicial custody.

The Chennai Police has registered a case in opposition to them underneath section four of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment of Women Act.

The horrific incident came about at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai during a ISL soccer match between Chennayin FC and North East United FC.

It was captured on digicam and shared on Facebook, provoking outrage on social media. The video confirmed a bunch of north eastern enthusiasts surrounded through a bunch of men - seemingly Chennayin FC enthusiasts - making obscene gestures at them.

The males, who regarded drunk, surrounded the women and mocked them with vulgar indicators.

As the video went viral, Chennai Police swung into motion and started tracing the lads in question. Later based on the observation from one of the most sufferers, Police in spite of everything managed to nab the two accused.


John Abraham, who owns the North East United crew, condemned the incident and mentioned he was deeply disturbed through it.
