Bagalkot: Four folks had been killed on the spot and three others sustained injuries after their automotive hit a parked truck near Hungund town on the nationwide freeway on Saturday.
The coincidence took place when the sufferers had been returning after a pilgrimage to Venkateshwar Temple near Ballari on the occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadashi.
The deceased had been known as Pankaj Singhe, 49, Uma Singhe, 47, Srikant Bai Darak, 70, (Bagalkot town) and Pusphabai Darak, 72, of Guledagudda. Sridhar Darak, 25, Deepak Bayatee, 25, and Sunil Somani, 45, from Bagalkot have been admitted to a health facility in Hungund.
Local residents alleged that the ambulance arrived overdue on the spot. The ambulance group of workers struggled to remove the useless bodies from the auto.
Hungund police have registered a case.
