Dharwad: The Dharwad City and Rural Congress SC/ST wing took out a rally and staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's workplace here on Thursday, condemning the alleged remarks by way of Union minister of state for talent construction Anantkumar Hegde about converting the Constitution.
Demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi drop Hegde from the ministry, the protesters said that the minister spoke lightly of the Constitution which assures equality and freedom of speech and expression. Later, they submitted a memorandum at the deputy commissioner's workplace addressed to the President. Anand Mushannavar, Shankar Hosmani and Mahesh Hulennavar have been among those that participated in the protest.
Hegde's remarks came at a public programme in Kukanoor, Koppal district.
