KANPUR: After failing to trace the missing IIT-K scholar for over three weeks, the police have now despatched the scholar's laptop to the forensic lab in Noida. The police want to recuperate the knowledge saved within the laptop to get a clue to search out Akshay Kamble, 3rd yr BTech scholar, who is missing from November 29.
Police are also banking on the browsing history within the laptop to have a clue. Police assets said that the scholar as in keeping with his friends was in melancholy owing to poor efficiency in lecturers within the current yr.
During investigation, the police came to understand that Akshay used to spend 80% of his time in operating his laptop and used to remain confined to his room. Akshay had no Facebook and WhatsApp account and hardly made use of his mobile phone. "The most dear to him was his laptop as he used to spend hours in combination in operating it.
Before leaving IIT-K campus, he had left his laptop within the baggage room of the institute. We got the laptop from the possession of his oldsters and despatched it to forensic lab in Noida for breaking its password to get clues about Akshay," deputy SP Naveen Singh said whilst talking to TOI.
The police are hopeful of having clues about Akshay from his laptop. "We will go through the browsing history and see the data stored on the laptop. Akshay also left behind his ATM card. Both his SIM cards were recovered dumped in a dustbin. Only his laptop can give us lead. We are now awaiting for report from the forensic lab and hope to get it on Saturday," Singh added.
The police said that Akshay's father Gangarao Bhimrao Kamble and his maternal uncle are in staying at IIT-K campus. "We can understand that they are a worried lot. The police are making efforts to trace Akshay," Singh said.
