BANGKOK: A Myanmar court has dropped additional charges towards two international journalists and their local personnel who have been arrested in October for allegedly flying a drone over the parliament.
Their legal professional says Lau Hon Meng, a Singaporean, and Mok Choy Lin, a Malaysian, working for the Turkish state broadcaster TRT shall be freed from detention together with two local staffers on January 5, after they will have served a 2- month jail sentence for illegally flying a drone.
They had confronted two more charges in relation to import of equipment and immigration violations.
In a separate case the day past, a court prolonged the detention of 2 Reuters journalists and set their trial for January 10 on charges of violating state secrets.
