BHUBANESWAR: Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and minister of state for railways Rajen Gohain on Saturday dedicated newly constructed station development on the aspect of platform 6 of Bhubaneswar railway station.
It will be the 2nd access to the station. Platform 1 is the primary entrance of the station.
The new station development has a booking place of work with reserved and unreserved ticketing device. Besides, it has amenities like foyer, 2nd magnificence waiting hall, higher magnificence waiting hall, food plaza, leader price tag inspector's (CTI) place of work, bogs for Divyang passengers, pay and use bogs and parking area with barricade.
The development was once built at the price of Rs 1.97 crore. It will accommodate the crowd coming from old station bazaar and Cuttack-Road aspect of the station.
Due to extension of platform quantity 6 throughout Nabakalebar festival in 2015, the station development on Old Station Bazaar aspect were demolished. The platform 6 aspect entrance remained open since then. Later the ECoR decided to construct a station development in this aspect to offer amenities to the passengers. Work for the development was once began in August this year.
The station gets its third foot over bridge (FOB) on Khurda aspect. The six metre large bridge might be built within a year at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crore, stated the East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources.
Pradhan attending the rite stated Odisha goes to be the gateway of building in the East. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans for expansion of national highways, better air connectivity and development of railways in Odisha. Bhubaneswar is in his focus," he added.
The petroleum minister stated he has already advised the ministry of railways to construct a freight line between Khurda Road and Cuttack bypassing Bhubaneswar city. It will scale back the load on the passenger traffic of the stations of the capital city, he added. "I have told the railways for survey for the freight line starting from Khurda Road to Cuttack via Pitapalli and Barang. It will change the operation of railways and help the public immensely," he added.
The minister duo additionally dedicated new station development at Sakhigopal station in Puri district thru videoconferencing. The development built at a cost of Rs 1.55 crore has amenities like booking counter with reserved and unreserved ticketing device, 2nd magnificence waiting hall, bogs, open space and approach street.
