Panel submits its report on Somanur roof collapse to CM

COIMBATORE: Senior IAS officer Gagandeep Singh Bedi, who led a one-man inquiry committee on Somanur bus stand roof collapse, has submitted his report back to CM Edappadi K Palaniswami a couple of days in the past. The roof collapse on September 7, 2017, claimed 5 lives.

According to resources, stringent action has been recommended through the committee against the native frame government and development contractor for failing to care for the development correctly. The record also indicated many flaws within the structure of the bus stand in Somanur. Bedi had inspected the Somanur bus stand along side technical experts and structural engineers from the PWD in September 2017. He had also conducted inquiry with the locals. Design engineers have been also delivered to check up on the development. Core cutting check was conducted to make sure the remainder structure of the bus stand and a couple of items of cement concrete muffins have been also taken from the structure for testing. The high quality of the metal rods used to construct the bus stand development was also tested.


He also visited Annur, Kovilpalayam, Sulur and Kinathukadavu bus stands and ready a record. Sources mentioned Bedi met the CM a couple of days in the past and submitted his record.
