BHUBANESWAR: A lady, who in October alleged she was gang-raped through some uniformed security staff in Koraput, reiterated on Friday that some cops presented her bribe to change her observation. The 14-year-old woman was right here in conjunction with five other alleged rape survivors to be a part of a public listening to that was organised through some social activists.
"I am ready to be hanged if anyone proves me wrong. I was tortured and offered cash by police to change my statement about the involvement of security personnel in the crime. I denied and stuck to my statement," she advised the target market. "I do not know whether my tormentors were from Odisha police, central reserve police force or border security force. But they wore uniforms worn by anti-Maoist security forces," she stated.
Hours after her observation, the state police headquarters issued a press unencumber and brushed aside information updates through some information channels that claimed that DGP R P Sharma presented her bribe. "I never met nor interacted with her. The charges are false, baseless and ill-motivated," the discharge from the DGP's place of job mentioned.
In November, further director general of police (human rights coverage cell) Mahendra Pratap had stated that the clinical examination report of the lady didn't point out gangrape.
SP (Koraput) KV Singh too stated findings of the clinical report contradicted the lady's observation. The woman, who had lodged a complaint on October 10 alleging she was gangraped through 4 uniformed security staff in Kunduli forest, had accused police of hushing up the case.
