Hubballi: Seven gram panchayat members were reportedly abducted at gunpoint at Durgadevi Betta near Anegundi in Koppal district on Sunday.
According to a grievance lodged at Gangavathi Rural police station, 25 other folks from Bommanahalli of Sindagi taluk were touring the area. Of them, seven were abducted at gunpoint. The abducted members come with Shivamma Guranna Havalagi, 38; Sharamma Sharanegouda Biradar, 62; Shreedevi Mahadevappa Pujari, 40; Shashikala Shivanna Doddamani, 25; Shivanna Doddamani, 28, and Rajugouda Patil Gundagi, 40. Another victim is yet to be identified.
According to the grievance, Shivamma was set to get elected as president for the 3rd consecutive time. To ensure that Shivamma is not elected, the opposition reportedly abducted them.
