Belagavi: For the 20th year in succession, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) organized Lord Jagannatha Ratha Yatra Mahotsava within the on Saturday.
More than 50,000 people witnessed the development. Lokanath Swami Maharaj flagged off the procession at Dharmaveer Sambhaji Chowk at 1.45pm in presence of Bhakti Rasamrita Swami Maharaj and Ram Govind Swami Maharaj. The procession, wearing idols of deities Jagannath, Baladeva and Subhadra and Iskcon founder AC Bhaktivedanda Swami within the chariot culminated at Shukrawar Peth.
ISKCON devotees carried out kirtan alongside the procession. Devotees from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu or even some western countries like America have been provide.
Devotees adorned the procession route with creative rangoli designs. The ground behind the Iskcon temple witnesses a festive look with superbly adorned pandals and stalls. Bhajans, kirtans, arati of Lord Jagannath, children's programme and discourses have been organized within the night.
Rathyatra committee chairman Sanjeevani Krupa Das in conjunction with participants M L Agarwal, Balkrishna Bhattad, Maheshchandra Gupta, Anant Lad, H D Katwa participated within the procession.
