Karni Sena blocks traffic in Ggn over Padmaavat

GURUGRAM: Perched on top of an open jeep, a skinny guy with a thick beard shouted slogans of "Jai Karni Sena", "Jai Bhawani" and "Rani Padmavati Zindabad", as others adopted in thunderous refrain. Around 200-250 men, who known as themselves participants of Gurgaon's Karni Sena, came to Subhash Chowk on Sunday morning.
The team, which blocked the busy Sohna street stretch for at least 5-10 minutes, had began their day from Begampur Khatola village, the place they burnt an effigy of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the director of the arguable big-budget Bollywood film Padmaavat.

At Subhash Chowk, in entrance of a mall, probably the most assembled Sena participants, informed TOI that while they could no longer prevent the film's free up, they'd make sure that no one will get to watch it. The men, who had parked their bikes, cars and jeeps at the middle of the state highway, carried sticks, and poles with saffron flags fluttering on them.

Intermittently, a speaker would get on top of a jeep to shout a few slogans and ship a brief speech invoking Rajput harmony. Then the boys would return to taking selfies with the gang. Around 10 minutes later, the SHO of Sadar police station, together with other law enforcement officials, asks them to transport forward.

Then they begin their bikes and cars and within minutes reach MG Road. Here they block the MG Road metro station front. The law enforcement officials, who're following, get started filming protesters on their telephones, however make no attempt to prevent the demonstration. The protest then strikes to Sikanderpur, the place the procession takes an Uturn, with men shouting slogans with torsos sticking out of vehicle windows, thumping the ground with sticks, startling commuters with their "Padmaavat dekhne mat jana, nahi to zinda nahi bachoge", "Hall jala denge agar movie release kari", till they reach the car parking zone of Leisure Valley.

Here, the gang, which had swelled to 300, interrupt a cricket match. Meanwhile, 5 Sena representatives take a automotive, adopted by way of two PCR vans, and head for the shops — MGF, Sahara, MGF City Centre on MG Road, Mega Mall on Golf Course Road — to distribute pamphlets to multiplex personnel. The pamphlets, carrying a photo of Karni Sena chief Lokendra Singh Kalvi, proclaim that "Padmaavat harms sentiment of Hindus and Muslims, and will lead to communal riots and damage of property."
