NEW DELHI: An analysis of the self-sworn affidavits of contesting applicants in Meghalaya presentations that out of the 370 nominees, 25 (7%) have criminal instances in opposition to them.
According to a record of Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) which analysed the affidavits, 21 of the applicants have declared severe criminal instances in opposition to them, together with homicide, attempt to homicide and instances associated with crime in opposition to girls such as rape.
Out of the 370 applicants analysed, 152 or 41% are crorepatis. “The average of property consistent with candidate contesting in the Meghalaya assembly elections is Rs three.54 crore,” said the record. It said 41 consistent with cent of the applicants have declared their educational qualification to be between magnificence V and XII, whilst 56 p.c have declared having education qualification of graduation or above. “One candidate is illiterate,” it said.
