GHAZIABAD: The connectivity in trans-Hindon area, particularly Indirapuram, is all set to get a boost with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation sending a detailed undertaking report back to the Ghaziabad Development Authority to increase the Blue Line from Noida to Ghaziabad. Estimated at Rs three,711 crore, the plan involves construction of 2 elevated metro corridors protecting 10.17km.
The hall connecting Noida and Ghaziabad might be an extension of the under-construction Noida City Centre (Sector 32)-Sector 62 Blue Line hall. This hall might be 5.11km and feature five stations, three of which — Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand — are meant to come up within the Indirapuram township.
The other hall at the Blue Line — from Vaishali to Modi Nagar — might be 5.06km long and feature four stations — Prahlad Garhi, Vasundhara Sector 14, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar.
The GDA is scheduled to meet on February 5 and suggest adjustments to the undertaking file, if any, following which it'll be despatched to the state govt for approval.
A station will come up in Sector 5 of Vasudhara and every other might be built in Sahibabad, the place passengers can interchange for trains at the proposed Vaishali-Modi Nagar stretch. Once whole, the Noida-Ghaziabad undertaking is likely to remedy the trip woes that commuters have incessantly complained about within the trans-Hindon area of Ghaziabad.
The prolonged Blue Line hall will get started from the under-construction Electronics City metro station in Noida's Sector 63, move over NH24 and go to Sahibabad along the CISF-Vasundhara Road. In April 2016, the DMRC had determined to shift the proposed metro station at Electronic City near the Ghaziabad border — the last station at the Noida Sector 32-62 Blue Line — around the highway and closer to NH 24 to assist commuters who need to board the trains from the freeway.
"Various government departments and agencies at the district-level will meet on Monday to discuss the project. Suggestions and issues, if any, will be taken into account after a proper study. The state government will then decide on the funding pattern and timelines will be worked out. Both corridors will be elevated and land for them has been earmarked. There are no issues over plots," said GDA vice-chairperson Ritu Maheshwari.
The Vaishali-Modi Nagar hall might be constructed along the under-construction Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand hall.
"The station at Mohan Nagar has been proposed in the form of an interchange. The deadline for completing the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand metro corridor is June 2018 as of now. Work on this corridor was delayed because government agencies had not been releasing their share of funds in time. The latest installment of Rs 80 crore was received from the UP housing and development board and handed over to the DMRC," Maheshwari said.
