LONDON: In a surgical feat, doctors have operated on a woman which they declare is the primary hysterectomy in Europe through a tiny incision in her abdominal button, leaving no visible outward scars.
The technique, known as single incision laparoscopic surgery, is the newest development in keyhole surgery where the tools are inserted through the abdominal button including a tiny digital camera and surgeons manoeuvre within the use of a TV track.
Surgeon Thomas Ind, who led the group which performed the hysterectomy ��� the surgical removing of the uterus ��� on the woman named Debbie Price, said the process is most effective an extension of what is already being carried out with keyhole strategies.
���Instead of constructing three or 4 holes for tools we simply make one hollow. The patients like the speculation of no longer having three or 4 little scars across their tummy���, he said. Price, 46, made up our minds to head for the operation after suffering for years with adenomyosis ��� a painful condition where the womb lining grows into muscle of the uterus.
