TOKYO: Oil that has washed ashore on a number of southern Japanese islands is most likely from an Iranian tanker that sank within the East China Sea ultimate month, Japan's coastguard stated Friday.

"So we have concluded that it is highly likely that the oil that reached (the two islands) is connected with Sanchi," he stated.
