BHUBANESWAR: Stepping up its agitation against the BJD government over alleged gang rape and next suicide by means of Kunduli lady, the participants of BJP mahila morcha here on Thursday stormed into the place of business of state commission for ladies (SCW).
They allegedly ransacked the premises and accused the panel of keeping mum at the raging issue. The protesters took bangles to mock at the commission, pronouncing it's sitting at the issue silently by means of dressed in bangles. The agitators even clashed with police when the latter tried to disperse them from the commission's place of business. "We do not think the commission is at all concerned about the safety and security of the women in Odisha. The commission has been working at the behest of police and BJD," stated BJP mahila morcha state president Prabhati Parida.
The agitators puzzled the commission's position from October 10 when the 14-year-old lady accused the security body of workers of raping her.
"We did not see any response or action from the commission. The girl was forced to commit suicide on January 22 due to alleged injustice meted out to her. The commission is still in slumber," alleged BJP chief and former minister Surama Padhi. BJP chief Lekhashri Samantsinghar stated the commission's place of business must be shut down as it really works to safeguard the interests of the ruling BJD and police. The SCW denied the fees. "We had sought reports from the Koraput SP. We have kept close watch on the developments. Crime Branch and judicial inquiries are in progress. BJP should not attempt to take political gain out of the unfortunate suicide by the girl," stated a functionary of the SCW.
"We condemn the protesters' act of ransacking our office," the functionary stated. The BJD too criticised the BJP for looking to acquire political mileage from the issue.
Ever because the lady dedicated suicide, BJP mahila morcha has been staging demonstrations almost each day.
