Tirupur: The Tirupur district administration on Saturday imposed a positive of about Rs 2.8 lakh on an importer for looking to illegally promote imported sand from Malaysia in Tamil Nadu.
The administration had seized 31 gadgets of sand from 9 trucks and handed it over to the public works department (PWD).
On February 16, Udumalpet revenue officers found the 9 trucks transporting the sand from the Cochin Port. “We imagine the Kerala-based importer has bought the sand to promote in Kerala once you have due permission.
