JORHAT: Over 1.6 lakh teachers from more than 60,000 primary schools around the state observed a 'Black Day' on Thursday in protest in opposition to the attack on a teacher in upper Assam's Charaideo district allegedly at the orders of the deputy commissioner last Saturday for a fifteen-minute lengthen in attending a meeting.

We have also decided to stage dharnas in all the district headquarters and subdivisions on February 26 if our demands are not addressed," said ARPSS secretary Ratul Goswami.
