China to build massive $1.5 billion panda conservation area

BEIJING: The Bank of China has pledged no less than 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion) to create a massive large panda conservation park in southwestern Sichuan province.


China's forestry ministry announced Thursday an settlement between the bank and the provincial executive to finance the Giant Panda National Park's building via 2023. The park objectives to reinforce the native economy whilst making improvements to breeding prerequisites for wild pandas residing in the mountainous region.


The ministry stated it is going to measure 2 million hectares (5 million acres), making it greater than two instances the scale of Yellowstone National Park in the United States.


Giant pandas are China's unofficial national mascot and reside principally in the Sichuan mountains.
