MOHALI: Taking notice of as many as 12 lawsuits gained in a day, deputy commissioner of Mohali Gurpreet Kaur Sapra issued instructions to its officials to make an appeal to the religious places to tone down sound of the loudspeakers getting used at quite a lot of places of worship.
Sapra said that during a unmarried day she witnessed 10 to 12 residents from quite a lot of portions of the city at her workplace coming with equivalent lawsuits.
"The complainants alleged that they were troubled by the high pitch voices of loudspeakers installed at religious places. The residents in their complaints stated that the children get disturbed in the mornings due to the sounds from the loudspeakers and it becomes difficult for them to study at the time when they are preparing for their examinations," the DC said.
Paying heed to the lawsuits, Sapra directed the officials to instantly act and pass on an appeal to tone down the pitch of loudspeakers in some way that it remains inside the premises of any place of worship.
The DC said that the lawsuits had been gained from many city sectors like Sector 68, Sector 70, Sector 71, Suneta village, Balongi, Kharar, Landran and different peripheral villages. "All the heads of religious places must be appraised that recently Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had also released a mandate directing all religious places to reduce the pitch of the loudspeakers to avoid the noise pollution," Sapra asked the officials to put across.
"We have filed a complaint with the DC that loudspeakers are being used at very high pitch at a Gurdwara in our locality. We did ask them to keep a tab on the volume but they did not listen. Therefore, we decided to lodge a formal complaint with the DC," said Gurcharan Singh, resident of Sector 71.
