No trouble with our allies, says Tripura CM Biplab Deb

Tripura's first BJP chief minister Biplab Deb is in the nationwide capital as he units out to deliver at the promises made to the people who voted overwhelmingly to dislodge the 25-year-old Left rule in the state.
Biplab Deb is busy assembly the Union ministers to verify promises like jobs and advantages of the central executive schemes are delivered at the earliest, thereby ensuring that the cadre-based CPM does not get a chance to regain flooring in the state.

Amid his nerve-racking agenda, Deb spoke to TOI's Mohua Chatterjee on a spread of issues together with the demanding situations he faces and his plans for the long run. Excerpts:

Q: Let’s begin with asking about your tough ally Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), which has reached Delhi sooner than you and are still tough a separate Twipraland?

A: It is a unsuitable belief, the IPFT chief was once not a part of that protest right here and so they had no formal call for for Twipraland … it is a small segment of IPFT which had accumulated in the nationwide capital. There isn't any bother with our allies and I've spoken to them. We have two IPFT ministers in our Nine-member cabinet which will probably be additional expanded. Their ministers cling important portfolios like finance. They are our allies and they're utterly satisfied.

Q: Your victory was once dampened by means of the knocking down of the Lenin statue that prompted a chain of such acts around the country. Is it a good beginning?

A: It was once unsuitable, but it surely took place sooner than our executive took rate. We have already arrested the JCB driver … the remaining was once a mob. The Left accuses BJP contributors for the incident, but then why is there no FIR from the celebration towards any person for the incident? After I took oath on March Nine, not a single incident has took place … Prime Minister himself has strongly spoken out towards such incidents.

Q: You invited former chief minister Manik Sarkar for the swearing in, but BJP is still attacking him, you might be re-opening instances of RSS pracharaks killed in 2003. So has the conflict towards the Left not ended?

A: Yes, we're opening old instances. There were killings in the name of ideology and nothing was once completed about such ugly crimes. So a committee has been set as much as glance into the 12 murders. Even the new killing of two journalists will probably be regarded into … we will be able to punish the to blame. But the government is for the entire other people living in Tripura… there must be no discrimination. However, the wrongs which have been committed, the torture that folks have suffered, must be put right by means of the government.

Q: What is the very first thing that you plan to do as CM?

A: We had promised those who Agartala airport will probably be renamed “Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Airport” in honour of the nice king of Tripura, who is highly regarded by means of the folks and who ensured that the state merged with India after Independence in 1947. The ministry has agreed already, the trade must officially happen very quickly.

Q: Your primary poll campaign was once around offering jobs. How will you go about it?

A: That is among the first issues that I've already started working on. In truth, home minister Rajnath Singh ji had a present for the state. When I met him, he was once waiting with a ready order to have two battalions of Tripura State Rifles, for which there was once a demand from the state for the closing three years. To supply seven lakh jobs in the state, I've met 15 ministers in two days and have were given Rs 1000 crore for the state already. I can be assembly some more ministers sooner than I depart. Big spending has been confident from urban building and rural building ministries for the state, there are initiatives with the ONGC and others which might be coming quickly … Bangladesh is a big market for us… I am hopeful of taking good care of the unemployment problem inside two and part years.
