Odisha government plans to attach properties of errant mining lessees

BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Wednesday warned the errant mining hire holders to confiscate properties to confiscate their properties if they fail to pay their dues.


Informing about it, state steel and mines minister Prafulla Mallik mentioned as many as hire holders of a minimum of 56 mines are yet to pay Rs 7,689 crore as mounted by the Supreme Court on August 2, ultimate year.


According to sources, the state government would initiate motion towards the erring hire holders beneath the provisions of Odisha Public Demands Recovery Act. “A committee headed by district collectors and income officials will initiate the complaints to gather the consequences in keeping with the apex court docket order,” mentioned a steel and mines division officer.


The apex court docket had requested the state government to get better 100 in line with cent penalty from the mining lessees as mining operation, in these blocks, was carried out without woodland and surroundings clearances, beyond authorised space and in way over what had been allowed.
